Promoting Inclusivity Through Parental Leave and Pregnancy Loss Policies

Whether someone is giving birth, supporting a partner, fostering, or adopting, new parents at Chain.io are entitled to a full 12 weeks off to focus their energy on their family. Should any employee or their partner experience pregnancy loss, Chain.io will offer up to six weeks of paid bereavement leave so that they may grieve and recover without the stress of work.

For new parents, navigating time-off as their family grows is stressful, especially considering most Americans do not have access to paid family leave through their employer.

At Chain.io, we want everyone to be able to experience the joy of a new family member without worrying about work. We also understand that having a flexible PTO policy isn’t enough. Without an explicit policy around parental leave, new parents often feel pressure to come back to work faster than they’d like. With that in mind, we felt it was important to create the space through a clear policy for everyone to take the time they need to welcome and support a new family member.

Whether someone is giving birth, supporting a partner, fostering, or adopting, new parents at Chain.io are entitled to a full 12 weeks off to focus their energy on their family. Not only will parents have the space and time to focus on their new addition, but they can do so with full confidence that they will be supported by their team and that they will have their position waiting for them when they return.

We also know that not all stories of growing families have happy endings. At many organizations, employees and their partners who suffer from pregnancy loss have to use PTO, sick days, take unpaid leave, or just suffer in silence.

I’ve sat in the emergency room with my wife feeling afraid and alone as we dealt with a miscarriage. I can’t imagine asking someone to even think about work at that time. Being a supportive and caring company means giving our team the space they need to heal both physically and emotionally.

Should any employee or their partner experience pregnancy loss, Chain.io will offer up to six weeks of paid bereavement leave so that they may grieve and recover without the stress of work. We know that recovery and loss are different for everyone, and some people may need more or less time, so this policy is flexible and can be adapted as each employee needs.

These policies were created with our people in mind - those that have gone through loss, welcomed new family members, and everyone in between. We know that family is the most important. Work will always be here, people may not.
