Logistics software integration specialist Chain.io has raised $5 million in venture funding to expand its ability to help third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and shippers connect with the software companies that support them both. The company said in a statement it is using the funding to grow its engineering, sales, and customer success teams.

The funding comes on the back of a 12-month period in which Philadelphia-based Chain.io said it tripled its revenue, grew its customer base by 50 percent, and added key integrations to widely used logistics software providers Cargowise, BluJay Solutions, Magaya, Portrix, WebCargo, and Terminal 49.

Founded in 2017 by CEO Brian Glick, the company has established itself as a partner to incumbent logistics providers and technology startups that need to manage connectivity between an array of systems, including 3PL operating systems, purchase order management software, warehouse management systems (WMSs), freight rate management tools, and transportation management systems (TMSs).
